READ to ACHIEVE with MAKE A SPLASH |
| Make a Splash Reading Contracts
|
| Click HERE to download a PDF version of the contract or get one at the Children's Desk. Participants are asked to establish a personal goal of how much time they plan to spend reading during the summer. Writing down an actual goal provides a concrete measure to achieve. Our Children's Librarian will sign off on your contract after agreeing that it is reasonable and age/ability appropriate. Reaching or exceeding the goal of your contract will allow you to be eligible for a raffle to have a chance to win a host of prizes, including tickets to a NJ Water Park or a Pirate Excursion. Your time spent reading will be recorded on our official SPLASH time log, also available as a PDF download (Click HERE) or pick one up at the Children's Desk. Contracts should be established by July 2, and completed and returned by August 31. Prizes will be awarded Tuesday, September 7. Winners will be notified by phone. |

Get your daily requirement of water and books. READ, BATHE, SWIM, DRINK, REPEAT! |

11:00 - 12:00 PM |

| Kids are natural storytellers. They love to pretend and imagine. Foster these imaginations and creative minds by introducing them to 'wordless' picture books, where each reader becomes his/her own narrator. Using a selection of books, including those from this summer's Make a Splash theme young children can 'read' to their parents. While autumn officially begins on September 23, let's enjoy our summer theme for just a bit longer. |

|
| - presented by Piccirillo Sciencetelling. |
| On the high seas, one pirate was feared more than most. That pirate was Hendricks the Hand who, cursed with a mutating hand that gave him powers, returns to the spot of the incident seeking more power to become unstoppable. Using science, join other pirates on a mission to Black Cave to protect the high seas before it's too late! Science blends with awesome storytelling. This story focuses on the concepts of liquid and density as we witness how to boil water in a paper cup, crush a can using only water, explode bottles through evaporation, and, of course, create a mutant hand. |
